My name is Ash, I’m 23 years old and I am from Australia. For two years I lived with several undiagnosed chronic illnesses. Finding Rainbows In The Dark was created to share my story and create awareness for others living with undiagnosed conditions. I also hope to inspire others experiencing any kind of hardship in their lives with my positivity and determination.

Prior to becoming chronically ill, I was studying a double degree of law and psychology full time and working full-time hours as a waitress. I was extremely fit and healthy as I was a pole dancer and instructor, plus a regular gym-goer. On top of this, I also maintained a great social life and a healthy relationship. My lifestyle was extremely full-on but I loved every  minute of my busy life!

For a long time, I struggled to describe who I am without those things but I am now at a 15541353_1512066722140029_8125527694534299745_nplace where I am confident with who I am. You can read about how I came to this here. I am creative and passionate, which I express through my writing. I am determined and motivated to live a positive and inspirational life. I love people; talking to them, learning about them and learning from them so get in touch with me here.

When I started this blog, I was almost completely bedbound and had no medical explanation for my symptoms. Now, almost three years later, I am back at university, I am working a little bit and am managing to live a reasonable life.

My diagnosed conditions so far are:

  • Myalgic Encephalomyelitis / Chronic Fatigue Syndrome
  • Postural Orthostatic Tachychardia Syndrome
  • Fibromyalgia
  • Chronic Systemic Inflammation Disease
  • Small Intestine Bacterial Overgrowth

My life has changed completely due to chronic illness but I am using this change to my advantage.  I am now pursuing my childhood dream of becoming a writer by studying a degree in professional writing and publishing. I am determined to live a happy and positive life, no matter where my illness takes me.

Thank you for reading about me, I hope my journey inspires you in some way.

Much love,

Ash
